Just a reminder that the Merseyside Transport Trust’s first open day at their new premises takes place on Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday, 4th June. In addition to the MTT’s fine collection of heritage buses, the Friends of the 502 Group will be on hand to show off the 502 vehicles to anyone who wishes to see them, and our sales stand will have souvenirs available to purchase.
The MTT premises will be open to the public from 11am until 4pm. You can find the building on Osprey Place, just off the A59 on the edge of Burscough (Google Map).
In order to make it easy for people to access the event, the MTT are operating two special bus services which will connect with trains at Ormskirk and Burscough Bridge stations. The buses will be operated by vehicles from the MTT’s heritage fleet and will be free of charge.
Service 1 will operate from Ormskirk Bus Station (in the town centre and just two minutes’ walk from the railway station). The first bus will depart Ormskirk at 10.20am, with the last bus from the MTT back to Ormskirk departing at 5.15pm
Service 2 will operate to/from Burscough Bridge station. The first bus departs Burscough Bridge at 10.20am, and the last bus from the MTT to Burscough Bridge will be at 5.20pm.
Full timetables for both services can be found on the Merseyside Transport Trust web site.
In addition to the special free buses, there is a normal bus route (Service 2B operated by Stagecoach Lancashire) linking Ormskirk and Preston via Burscough. This service stops outside the Bull & Dog Inn, a short walk from Osprey Place.
There are no engineering works affecting trains to Burscough or Ormskirk on Bank Holiday Monday, but if coming from further afield we recommend you check before you travel using the National Rail web site. If travelling from Liverpool by train, please remember that Liverpool Central station is closed for refurbishment work and Ormskirk line services are starting from Liverpool Moorfields. Visit loveliverpoolcentral.com for information on the alternative arrangements in place.
We look forward to welcoming you on 4th June.
