MTT open day success

Thanks to all who came to the MTT open day last week. It was a big success with a lot of people coming through the doors of the MTT’s Burscough base.

MTT Open Day 2013

Visitors had the opportunity to see the 502 up close and inspect first hand the progress we have made over the past year. Working with the benefit of secure, under cover storage, we have been able to start replacing the corroded bodywork and carrying out other repairs. In the pictures below you can see the first section of new steel in place; the repaired set of doors freshly painted in BR green, and the cab end of 28361 which has been given a partial cosmetic restoration.

Visitors could also purchase the wide range of new 502 merchandise now available. Our new items include new designs of mugs and keyrings, plus bookmarks and framed art prints. If you weren’t able to get to the show, don’t worry – our online shop has now been updated with the new items.

Once again we remind everyone that this ongoing work is only possible thanks to support from our members and donors. If you want to help us out, please consider joining the group or donating some money. Thank you.

MTT Open Day

Posted by Robert Hampton on 10th July 2013 at 8:48 pm

A reminder that this Sunday, 14th July marks the second annual Open Day at the Merseyside Transport Trust’s headquarters in Osprey Place, Burscough.

The MTT’s heritage bus fleet will be on display, and the Friends of the 502 Group will be on hand to show off the restoration work that has taken place. We have made lots of progress recently and the best way to see what we’ve been up to is to come and inspect the unit up close.

A free shuttle bus service will operate to Osprey Place from Ormskirk and Burscough Bridge stations – bus times are on the MTT web site.

Last year’s event surpassed all expectations with lots of people turning out to see the buses and trains. Hope to see you there!
